Our knives are custom hand made and represent a unique art form. Our original designs and choice of materials gives you a distinctively different type of knife compared to a machine factory finished knife. Knives come with a sheath and may vary from the sheath shown in the picture due to production lots. Variations in colors, Damascus patterns, and finishes are a natural part of artisan hand made knives and add to their uniqueness and beauty. If specified, some knives are made of D2 steel or 440c stainless steel. Because these are hand made knives, and not machined, you will frequently see imperfections, blemishes, and differences in finish materials that are part of a handmade product and natural materials. Color variations are normal. Damascus steel patterns can vary. Thousands of buyers continue to purchase DKC Knives. We are based in the United States and stand fully behind our products. The handle on this knife is really cool in that it's basically one solid cylindrical hunk of camel bone with what appears to be wood and brass spacers at both ends. It is very comfortable to hold and the brass bolster with finger guard protects against accidental slippage onto the blade. The solid brass pommel reveals the end of a rat tail tang, meaning that the knife is not full tang. Based on my experience with both types of tangs, I really don't think it matters. I've broken the blades of both types of knives while accidentally or intentionally prying or engaging in other unadvised activities. Anyway, given that this knife has a bone handle, it's really best not to use it in a fashion that's going to stress the internal portion of the blade.
The blade itself is a thick wide trailing point (upward sweeping point). That makes it good for piercing and slicing, both of which I found it to do well during household activities (haven't tried it outdoors yet). The blade has a nice Damascus pattern and the edge is sharp, without nicks or burrs.
The knife comes with a decent leather sheath with an extended loop that is meant to hang from a belt. A leather strap and snap secures the knife in the sheath.
